Early trials in the 2010/2011 rainy season with sprouted velvet bean (Mucuna pruriens) seed intercropped with maize.
The velvet bean was pre-sprouted before planting, giving it an establishment advantage over weeds and allowing it to grow alongside the maize from the earliest stages of crop development.
Detailed results and notes from this trial were incorporated into the longer Modulated Maize/Velvet Bean Intercrop post from July 2011.
